Wireless Camera Systems

->>> Hi, I live down a private lane (approx 1 mile ) and with the other residents we are trying to secure the area-
->>> do you have a wireless system that would be useful to put on the lane away from the houses?
->>> what is the distnace it would work?
->>> sorry- distance!
->> Sure. How big is the drive and how many cameras are you looking at?
->>> well, i will have to discuss prices with other residents - I have no idea how much this would cost! Maybe 2 cameras linked so we could see what has been going on at maybe one location?
->>> it would have to be approx 1/4 mile from house - not sure if that would work wirelessly?
->> Yes it can with high powered transmitter and receivers.
->> Are you looking for supply only or supply and fit?
->>> ok- how would it work? I was thinking maybe a camera that would detect any movement and either a) sound some kind of low alarm at the house with monitor or b)record any movement for playback
->>> not sure how these security things work! never had any before you see!
->>> probably supply and fit
->> Basically you would install a camera which would be attached to a wireless transmitter that would transmit the signal all the way back to the receiver plugged into a digital video recorder which is plugged into a monitor to give you images.
->> You would still need to get power to the camera via mains. Recorder has motion detection and makes the cameras trigger by movement.
->>> ok. are there any that would alert us to any movement?
->> Yes you can set alerts as well
->>> ok. so we would need electric to the camera. That may be a problem as it would be so far away from the closest house-
->> The only alternative is a car battery which would last you around 2 days and then has to be recharged.
->>> will have to check with them if they have any electric in their rear garden as that would be closest to the camera. So how much would that be to set up?
->>> ok- that may be an option.
->> You are looking at around £750 - £850 exc
->> That is the price of the products.
->>> what will that include?
->> A complete 2 wireless camera system with a DVR.
->>> and would hat work with any monitor?
->> Yes indeed.
->>> ok - that sounds possible as there are 8 houses - what is the maximum distance the cameras and DVR can be?
->>> and what length of time will it record for - or will it just record when there is movement?
->> I would say 400m line of sight. It can record continuously as well as on motion detection.
->>> what do you mean by line of sight?
->> Without any obstacles in between basically.
->>> between the camera and dvd/monitor?
->> yes
->>> ah right- that may be a problem as the lane bends and there are lots of trees
->>> if it is wired would it be the same?
->> OK in that case you might have to install directional antennas at both ends to boost the signals. But I would suggest installing the cameras first as you might just be OK. It is quite a powerful piece of kit.
->>> ok- I will have a chat with the other residents and will get back to you. Thanks for all your help :-)
->> No problem. You're welcome.
