Cost Effective Wireless CCTV

-->: hi Kevin,i want 3 cameras,wireless,that can be put in the loft to view both sides of the prperty.
--->: No problem. I would strongly recommend wired though as it is much more reliable and cost-effective.
-->: ok,what tpe would you suggest?
--->: How far do you need to see from the cameras especially in the dark?
-->: max,15 metres.
--->: And you want a complete recordable system?
-->: can i connect it onto a pc?

->> No problem. What type of premises is it and are you looking for supply only or supply and install?
->> Yes we do.
->>> We are in a 4 story office block
->>> Supply and fit
->>> We would need two internal cameras and two external with night vision.
->>> We would need the ability to record, remote view and burn the recorded data

->>> Or perhaps Wireless might do!
->> I would strongly recommend against wireless for a business premises as it is not that reliable.
->>> OK
->> In terms of quality are you looking for something on the higher resolution side?

->>> thnaks
->> So you have the cable runs already?
->>> we have coax cable runs.

->>> yes
->> Do you currently have a DVR lock box
->>> What is that?
->> Like the DVR secured in a metal housing.
->>> No we do not.
->>> The unit sits in our post room.
->> Alright no problem.
->> Whereabouts are you based and how soon you require the installation?
->>> We are based in Maidenhead Berkshire. Our current system is running but the old JVC screen on reception has broken and security cannot see what is going on. So I would say ASAP.

->> No problem. Have you got suspended ceilings? And what would be the cable length of each camera from the recorder?
->>> if not how easy is it to link cables? is there a connector etc

->>> that sounds good to me
->> Kevin let me take your contact number as well just in case.
->>> also how many hors recording could i expect from the 4 cameras on say... 160gb

Wireless IP CCTV Camera Setup

->>> hi, i want to know is there a camera system whcih i could use. it is for a quarry, and so it would need to be wireless, with about four cameras, between point a the office and point b a farm. the range would need to be near a km. any ideas?
->> Have you got Internet available at both ends?
->>> yes
->> That's no problem then. You can have the cameras wired up back to the recorder at the farm. Connect the recorder to your Internet router and you can access images remotely from anywhere in the world.
->>> but can they be wireless/
->> They can be yes but I would rather suggest wired as wireless can cause interference and signal issues.
->>> it would just be a problem due to large machinery and large cliff faces to go past in the quarry with the cable route
->> Then the other alternative would be to go for IP cameras setup which would be relatively expensive.
->> Would you be installing the system yourself?
->>> would it be the machinery causing the interference or just geneal interference?
->>> yes
->> OK I would recommend IP setup in that case.
->>> how much, roughly and what way does it work?
->> http://www.ukcctv.co.uk/ipnw-u25a-25metres-outdoor-ip-camera-3g-wfi.aspx
->> Above is the camera
->> and below the recorder.
->>> ok i'll click on it now
->> http://www.ukcctv.co.uk/nas-12.aspx
->>> ok i see the rorder and then is that the cmaera you would buy to go with it?
->> Yes that would be the wifi camera that would communicate to your wireless router. And you can have this recorder at your office where you would get the recordings done on there via the Internet IP.
->>> ok and how far can the cameras be located from the recorder?
->> We will provide you full support in terms of its installation.
->> It could be as far as you like as the recording would be done via the Internet
->> Hope it makes sense?
->>> ok thats good. so if i were to purchase 4 cameras and the recorder, would you be able to make me a quote for this?
->>> one last thing, is there night vision on that camera?
->> Yes up to 25 meters night vision in complete darkness.
->>> and sound?
->> Yes it has a built in MIC.
->>> thanks thats brilliant

IP CCTV Camera vs Wired CCTV Camera

->> Hi, I am one of the Chat Operators here at UKCCTV. How can I assist you today?
->>> John Cooper
->> Hi John, how can I help?
->>> Wish to install ourdoor CCTV system
->> OK is it for your house/business and how many cameras?
->>> House one camera in courtyard area
->>> yes
->> How far this camera needs to see especially in the dark?
->>> about 30yds approx
->> And how far the camera be from your viewing device approx.
->>> probaly about 20 to 30 feet you to advise
->> http://www.ukcctv.co.uk/1-Camera--Wired-Outdoor-Recording-Advance-System-cctv-security-systems-digital-home-commercial-uk-PKG-0899.jsf
->> This would be my recommended package.
->>> Likely cost please would like a playbuck recorder which last for 7 to 28 days
->>> Also wireless if possible
->> wireless IP cameras with recording device would be rather expensive
->> http://www.ukcctv.co.uk/540TVL-Outdoor%20IP-Camera.aspx
->> http://www.ukcctv.co.uk/nas-1-ip-cameras-storage-device.aspx
->>> Would loke to consider both alternatives Prices please
->> No problem. Did you manage to see both the options on the links?
->>> no
->> For a conventional wired setup price would be £469.64 exc.
->> And for an IP camera setup it would be £740 exc.
->>> OK thanks Kevin in both cases do the cameras have night vision and how may day recoding can it holad and can some recordings be kept almost indefinely
->> Around 2 weeks. Can be upgraded to anything up to a month for £50 extra.
->>> Rhanks what about the night vision of the cameras
->> Up to 50 meters in both cases.
->> Wired setup would be much more cost-effective in my opinion.
->> Yes we can supply as well as supply and install.
->> The prices I gave you were for supply only.

Wireless IP CCTV Camera

->>> hi we are wanting a cctv system that is wireless but also has weather proof cameras that can be mounted on the side of the building
->>> we need 3 cameras but are aware they might come as 4
->> Right OK. How far the cameras would be from the recorder?
->>> only about 20m but it would be through external walls
->> I would strongly advise going wired as wireless can cause reliability and interference issues here and there.
->>> they only problem is we own a back to back property so getting the wires through would create a problem
->> How thick are the walls and how many between cameras and recorder
->>> two of the cameras would be through 1 @ 22" wall and the 3rd camera would be through 2 22" walls
->> Hm still going to be a gamble even with powerful transmitter and receivers. They usually work well in a clear line of sight with minimal obstacles in between.
->> Actually IP wireless cameras should be OK for that distance. Slightly more expensive though.
->>> to get through the walls and through two properties unfortunately wouldn't be practical therefore we would have to take the gamble with wireless.
->>> how much would they be?
->> http://www.ukcctv.co.uk/ipnw-u25a-25metres-outdoor-ip-camera-3g-wfi.aspx
->> Please click on the link above.
->>> ok thanks for your help
->> No problem. Would you like me to put a package together with 3 cameras?
->>> i think these would be too expensive for what we were looking it. we have found some other cameras that are better priced, thanks for your help
->> Sure. Just an advice, whatever you choose please don't go for cheap wireless camera systems from Maplins or B & Q as I can guarantee they wouldn't work.

Residential and Business CCTV Camera Systems

-->: I wanted to buy a 25m-50m range night vision camera.
-->: 1stly, which is best:The advance or advance pro?
-->: Much differnce in quality?
--->: Advance is for a residential premises and the Advance Pro is for businesses.
-->: 2ndly, is there any difference in quality between the 25m and 50m camera
--->: Not much difference is quality, however there is a slight difference.
--->: Do you know the product code of the camera you have in mind?
-->: OK. I was thinking of buying the 2x50m and 2x25m advance night vision package. Are they provided with brackets and mounts or do i need to buy them seperatly?
--->: Brackets and screws supplied with the camera.
-->: ok
--->: The package has all the necessary cables and power supplies for a working system.
-->: The flat screen monitor 17inch is branded as LG. What brands are the 19 and 22 inch please?
--->: It will be LG or another company such as Samsung etc
-->: Also much do you charge for installing the complete package. How long does it take?
-->: I presume you are located in London-is there a charge for call out as well? I'm located in Kent, Maidstone area.
--->: As Christmas time is near, our Installers are quite busy, however sometimes a job is finished earlier than expected and a day or 2 opens up for another job.
--->: We are located in London. There is a call out charge, however if you purchase the system from us, then that will be deducted.
-->: OK-but cost of installation, minutes/ hours it takes?
--->: a 4 camera installation is approx £589.95. Depending on whether you want the wires trunked etc the price may vary slightly. 6-8 hours usually, but finished within 1 working.
-->: OK. And the hard drive for the 4 cameras come with 750gb?
--->: Yes, it does.
-->: How many days do they store video recorded data before it deletes everything?
--->: The DVR has an option to alert you when the Hard drive reaches capacity. It won't delete any info without your permission, however there is a setting where you can tell it to over-write from beginning.
--->: 750GB on motion detection ( depending on how busy the area is) would give you around 5-6 weeks worth of recording.
-->: Ok.Is there any guarantee/warranty for the product and installation-if so for how long?
--->: All products come with a 1 year warranty and the installation does come with the option of 1 year maintenance, I will have to check that with the Installation team.
-->: And I presume you still have the camera system packages in stock at the moment-Package Code: PKG-0931
--->: Let me check that for you.
-->: thanks | http://www.ukcctv.co.uk

Advising CCTV Technician

-->: Hi Kevin im working at a school which i would like to price up a security camera start pack eg a couple of domes and maybe more later on. I am the technician and would have no problem setting it up. Preferably using a hard drive independitly.
--->: No problem. Would they be indoor cameras?
-->: No external would worry if they were easily vandalized, the area is part of a garden with timber getting damaged twice in three weeks
--->: How far you need to see from the cameras?
-->: Say 10 metres but more worried if they see them there will be bricks thrown at them also they could possibly attack them from our single storey building
-->: roof i was meant to type there
--->: I see.
--->: http://www.ukcctv.co.uk/night-vision-cctv-security-camera-540-tvl-colour-dcn-u10a.aspx
--->: This camera would be ideal in that case.

Cheap CCTV Camera System

->>> I am looking to choose a simple CCTV system fora small Community-Run Village Shop. It incorporates a Post Office counter (open type).
->>> The shop just about breaks even so we do not have a huge budget!
->> OK no problem. How many indoor/outdoor cameras are you looking to mount?
->>> Deterrence is the main aim, and therefore making volunteer staff feel better protected.
->>> I guess that we would as a minimum want a camera trained on the door and another surveilling the counter area.
->> So both indoor basically?
->>> Probably a third to monitor a rear door to the store area.
->>> The last would be external
->>> (We are currently in a portacabin but will move into a new building next spring. I am planning for the new building but would probably mount the equipment in the portacabin in the meantime)
->> OK, where would you keep the recorder and how far would that be from each camera?
->>> Good question. Probably 8-15ft away from the counter in the rear area. Doubt that any camera would be more than 25ft from the recorder. (However for security reasons we are also looking at the possibility of mounting the recorder in the room above the shop -owned by the Parish Council)
->>> In this case distances would be somewhat longer.
->> OK based on your requirements if you are looking for a basic 3 camera setup then you are looking at around £350 exc.
->>> What would we get for that?
->> 2 indoor dome cameras. 1 outdoor 10m night vision camera. 1 DVR with 160GB HD and USB back up. Cables and power supplies.
->> Basically a plug and play system.
->> http://www.ukcctv.co.uk/night-vision-cctv-security-camera-420-tvl-colour-nvc-s10a.aspx
->> http://www.ukcctv.co.uk/sony-cctv-security-camera-420-tvl-dome-colour-dc-ha.aspx
->> http://www.ukcctv.co.uk/d-b4b-4-cameras-basic-dvr.aspx
->> Links for the products above.
->>> Thanks, what sort of quality would the recorded pictures be. Would they satisfy police requirements if there was a problem?
->> Yes the quality is good enough to meet minimum police standards.
->>> You asked about distances - what is the maximum cable distance (camera to recorder)?
->>> Would the dome cameras operate at night?
->> It can be anything up to a 100m. We do 5m, 10m, 15m and 40m ready made cables.
->> No the dome cameras does not have night vision. Do you require night vision for indoors as well?
->>> Probably a good idea.
->> http://www.ukcctv.co.uk/Standard-Resolution-2.5-Inches-13-Sony-CCD-420-TVL-3.6-mm-Lens.aspx
->>> Varifocal lens - does this mean that the width of the field of view can be adjusted (like a zoom lens) ?
->> that's right. The camera in the link above comes with night vision.
->> But with a wide angle fixed lens.
->>> OK, many thanks - will probably come back with some more questions but that is fine for now.
->> No problem. You're welcome.

PTZ - Pan Tilt and Zoom CCTV cameras

-->: OK, I would like preferably a wireless sytem with one or two camera to record
--->: No problem. Is that for your house and external cameras?
-->: It is for my house and I would prefer them to be internal cameras to look mthrough patio style windows
-->: I would also like the cameras to record the images and to be able to save the images for possibly showing to the Police etc as I ahve had some problems with vandalism
--->: If you want them to look through window then they cannot be night vision as infrared will bounce back off the glass.
-->: OK, then I would like one camera to be external and to record and the other for use within the house and I would like to be able to move it around.
-->: Both to record
--->: For moving around you are looking at PTZ (Pan Tilt and Zoom) cameras which are rather very expensive.
--->: You OK with that?
-->: No, not really, I wanted to be able to physically move the camera around to different locations, perf to look out of different windows
--->: OK let me put together a package for you. What would be the cable lengths required for each camera?
-->: wireless preferably
--->: Again wireless is expensive and not as robust as wired. Wired would be my recommendation.
-->: i live in a rented cottage and i do not want to be drilling holes et
-->: Ok, give me a quote on a package
--->: wireless or wired?
-->: both
--->: Wired system would be around £465 exc.
-->: ok, a little more then I had anticipated
--->: Wireless around £750 exc.
