4 Camera CCTV System High/Ultra High Res

Paul: Hi, the set up I am looking at is 3 x external hi res cameras (night vision), plus a DVR 4 channel recorder. i will probably need 3 lengths of 20m pre made RCA/video & power cables too. Does having this cable mean individual power supplies are needed too for the cameras?
->> That's right. But you would still power all the cameras next to your DVR as its a combo cable that carries both video and power.
->> How far do you need to see from the cameras especially in the dark?
Paul: probably about 15m

Paul: i'm abit confused on the power thing again
Paul: so each camera will need two cables. 1 to plug into a sandard power socket and the other to run to the DVR system?
->> Basically you would be supplied with a Pre-made BNC/Power cable. One end of those cables attach to the camera and on the other end the BNC bit goes into the DVR and the power bit attached to the power supply and goes into the mains next to the DVR.
->> Makes sense hopefully?
Paul: right gotch ya
Paul: so i will just need to ensure i have sufficient power sockets next to my dvr system
Paul: which i assume also needs power so in theory 5 sockets?
Paul: if using 4 cameras
->> 4 sockets including DVR.
->> Yes with 4 cameras you will need 5 sockets.
Paul: gr8. are the DVR accesible via the inrternet?
->> So in essence you can use an extension board with 5 sockets
->> Yes they are.
Paul: yep
Paul: is there a big difference between the his res cameras and the ultra hi res ones?
Paul: hi res
->> In terms of quality there is yes. These are 480 TVL and ultra high res is 520-540 TVL.
Paul: is it going to make a significant difference to an image about 15 m away?
Paul: english?
Paul: lol
->> If its for a house an advance system is OK.
Paul: yes it is
->> TVL are the TV lines that determine resolution on the pic.
->> Higher the TVL better the clarity gets.
Paul: right
Paul: so the more TV lines the better quality picture?
->> Correct! 480 is pretty decent but 500 + is fantastic.
Paul: ok gr8. out of interest what does BNC RCA stand for?
->> BNC is a video out connection on the DVR and RCA is the little phono connections on your TV.
Paul: ah right. do the cameras you mention above include motion detectors?
Paul: so in theory record when motion detected?
->> Yes they are triggered by movement.
Paul: ok gr8. i think that is everything thx for you hlp
->> My pleasure.
